Your privacy matters to us. Yours Always is an app for two people — everything you write and share belongs only to you. This policy explains how we handle your data and how we protect it.

2. What data do we process?
Account data
When you register, we collect:
- Email address (for authentication and notifications)
- Display name and profile picture (optional, freely chosen)
- Name of the shared space
- Relationship date (for milestones and countdowns)
Content you create
The app stores all content you consciously create and share:
- Love letters (text, chosen paper style and color, drafts, scheduled send times)
- Responses to daily check-in questions
- Appreciations and reactions to them
- Favorites entries (preferences and notes about your partner)
- Whiteboard drawings
- Visit and travel data (date, title, notes)
- Milestones and special moments
- Current mood and "I need you" signals
This content is exclusively visible to the two of you — no third party has access to it.
Technical data
- iOS version and device type (for technical support)
- Push notification token (for notifications)
- Anonymized usage statistics and error reports
Subscription data
When you purchase a Premium subscription, purchase data is processed via the Apple App Store and our payment service provider RevenueCat. We do not store any payment data ourselves (such as credit card numbers).
3. Legal basis
The processing of your data is based on:
- Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — Consent (e.g., push notifications)
- Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — Contract performance (provision of all app features)
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — Legitimate interests (security, bug fixing, app improvement)
4. Sharing data with third parties
We only share personal data with third parties in the following cases:
Supabase (Infrastructure & Database)
RevenueCat (Subscription Management)
Apple App Store
Data is only shared with additional third parties with your explicit consent or when required by law.
5. Retention periods
- Account data: Until account deletion
- Letters, check-ins, appreciations, milestones: Until account deletion or deletion of the content by you
- Whiteboard: Until reset by one of the partners
- "I need you" signals: Automatically deleted after 24 hours
- Push tokens: Until logout or app uninstallation
- Usage statistics and error reports: Maximum 12 months
- Subscription data: According to statutory retention periods (max. 10 years)
After account deletion, all personal data and content will be irreversibly deleted within 30 days.
6. Your rights
As a data subject, you have the following rights:
Access (Art. 15 GDPR)
You may request information about the data we store about you at any time.
Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
Inaccurate or incomplete data can be corrected.
Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
You may request the deletion of your data, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
Restriction (Art. 18 GDPR)
Under certain conditions, you may request restriction of processing.
Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
You have the right to receive your data in a commonly used format.
Objection (Art. 21 GDPR)
You may object to the processing of your data based on legitimate interests.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority. The responsible authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (ldi.nrw.de).
7. Data security
All data is transmitted in encrypted form (TLS/HTTPS). The database infrastructure is secured by Row-Level Security (RLS) — each user can only access their own shared space. Passwords are never stored in plain text.
Yours Always was built with privacy in mind. Your letters, messages, and shared moments are visible only to the two of you — not readable by us.
8. Changes to this policy
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy as needed. For significant changes, we will notify you via the app or by email. The date of the last update is shown at the bottom of this page.
